TONO: a synthetic dataset for face image compliance to ISO/ICAO standard

Description

TONO is a high-quality synthetic dataset for the development and evaluation of systems aimed at verifying face image compliance with the ISO/ICAO standard for electronic Machine Readable Travel Documents (eMRTDs).

TONO consists of images with one or more elements not compliant with ISO/ICAO requirements.

Generation

The generation process is based both on Diffusion Models and specific modifications of existing images, starting from the images of the ONOT dataset. More details are reported in the paper.

ISO/ICAO Face Requirements included in TONO

Head and Shoulder Pose

(no frontal pose with both head and shoulder)

Gaze Direction

(no in-camera looking)

Expression

(no neutral expression and teeth visible)

Face Illumination

(not uniform face illumination)

Background

(not uniform background)

Head Coverings

(hat, cap, bandana, bowler, and titfer)

Eye Visibility

(eye closed, eye closed with glasses, strong makeup, sunglasses)

Photographic

(pixelation, posterization, out of focus, over exposure, over saturated)

Download

To download the dataset, click the following button!

The first button is the version of the TONO dataset containing images with only one element that contrasts ISO/ICAO requirements.
The folder names reveal which elements: bkg (bot uniform background), cap (head coverings), ce (closed eyes), ceg (closed eyes with glasses), expos (not correct exposure), la_1 (looking away on right), la_2 (looking away on left), light (no uniform face light), mkup (makeup), oof (out of focus), pixel (pixelization), poster (posterization), sat (saturation), sm (no neutral expression), sun (sunglasses), tq (three-quarter pose), zoom (face dimensions).

The second button downloads the version of the TONO dataset containing images with more than one element that contrasts ISO/ICAO requirements.
